With less than a week to Kronos 2009/2010 Season first practice, registrations for the 2009-2010 season Adult Program is now FULL!

The executives and coaching staffs may accept Teens-of-Steele and Competitive Adult program athletes on a case-to-case basis.  For more information, please contact info@trikronos.com.

 

Training and Schedules

Maps: Jewish Community Centre, University Research Park, North Glenmore

Start Date for all programs: Monday Oct. 5th

Practices are held at:

Jewish Community Centre (JCC), located on 90th Avenue SW, next to Glenmore Landing: morning swims and indoor biking

Foothills Pool (FHP), located next to the University of Calgary: evening swims

Mt Royal Recreation (MRR), located near Crowchild and Glenmore Trails SW: Sunday swims

Olympic Oval (Oval) at the University of Calgary: indoor running 
 

Teens of Steel coached practices

Two of the three:
Mondays: 6:00 – 7:30 AM swim at the JCC
Wednesdays: 6:00 – 7:30 AM swim at the JCC
Sundays: 6:00 – 7:30 AM swim at the MRU

Tuesday 7:00-8:00PM bike at JCC
Wednesdays
: 7:00 – 8:00 PM run at Oval
Friday 5:00-6:00PM run at the TBD  
 

Adult and Junior and Competitive Elite coached practices

Swims: Sundays at MRR: 4:00 – 5:30 PM, plus choose either:

  1. Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:00 – 7:30 AM at the JCC
  2. Mondays: 8:30 – 10:00 PM at FHP and Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:30 AM at the JCC

Bikes: Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings at the JCC during the winter and outdoors in nicer weather

Runs: Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at various locations

Motion economy

Conservation of speed and anaerobic endurance

Development of high level aerobic power

How:

  • Easy endurance runs up to 26 km
  • Easy endurance cycles up to 2.5 hrs
  • Stretching and relaxation exercises
  • Physical exercise with and without apparatus, circuit training
  • Accelerations and coordination runs
  • Bike spin-ups, gear drills, leg drills
  • Swimming with fins & paddles focusing on arm placement and body rotation
  • Learning many new swimming drills
  •  

January/February

  • Anaerobic endurance enhanced

How:

  • Fartlek with long stretches at low to medium intensity
  • Standing drills, force build and indoor force hills on the bike
  • Endurance intervals on both run and bike
  • Repetition runs and bikes at low to medium intensity, mainly over long distances
  • Swimming intervals of 3-5min with recovery at half of work interval time
  • Lactate tolerance swimming sets
  •  

March/April

  • Conservation of aerobic endurance

  • Development of anaerobic endurance

How:
  • Hill training on a round circuit
  • Training on grass/trails over rolling terrain
  • Big gear low heart rate and combination big gear standing drills on bike
  • Getting outside on the bike and doing hill repeats and aerobic rides over rolling terrain
  • Swimming long cruise intervals + adding paddles
  • Threshold swimming

Competition Period May to October

May/June/July/August

All-round conditioning

How:
  • Motion economy
  • Development of anaerobic endurance, including speed
  • Coordination of training and competition program to reach the highest performance capacity at the right time (main competition, world championships, etc)
  • Maintenance of aerobic endurance as a performance basis

Other Info

Tacx trainers and Computrainer available for power analysis in indoor practices and testing thanks to a grant from the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

The club will be participating in a few swim meets & running races in preparation for the triathlon season.

The club will select key triathlon races to attend as a group.
