Volunteer needed on Bike Course
We're looking for volunteer on race-day to help with controlling the traffic around the traffic circle in University of Calgary.  This is very important to ensure the safety of your athlete, so parents please sign-up to volunteer on the pre-race meeting.


New in 2011 – T-Shirt Design Contest
The Calgary Kids of Steel is looking for budding artists to design a new shirt for the Calgary Kids of Steel.  In cooperation with our new sponsor, GRoWshirts, a t-shirt company producing artist tees 4 kids, by kids (www.growshirts.com), we are looking for one of the participants to design a new triathlon shirt.  T-shirt designs must be submitted by April 1st to info@growshirts.com.  Designs should incorporate the three sports: swimming, cycling and running on the front of the shirt as the back of the shirt and sleeves will be reserved for sponsors.  The words: The Kronos Triathlon Club presents the Calgary Kids of Steel should also be on the front of the shirt.  We look forward to seeing some fun and original designs that all participants will be proudly wearing.  The winning t-shirt design will also be presented with a special prize at the awards ceremony.


Swim: U of C. Pool

Cycle: ~5 Km loop …perimeter of U of C campus. (Separate bike course for the 5&U, 6/7, and 8/9 age groups.)
Run: Out and back on pathways
Transition: Parking Lot #16

The race route will be clearly marked and extensively monitored with marshals.

Registration Details:
In order to register, each athlete must have a current (as of January 1, 2011) ATA membership.  Please go to the Membership Centre at www.triathlon.ab.ca.

Once you have received your member confirmation by e-mail, go to the following link to register for the Calgary Kids of Steel race:

Entry fee:
$30 for ATA Members ages 5&U, 6/7, and 8/9.
$40 for ATA Members all ages 10 and up.
ATA membership must be confirmed at race package pick-up.


Entry fee includes:
Race entry, chip timing, t-shirt, finishers award, post event food and festivities.


NOTE: there will not be a mandatory bike check. However, participants/parents are responsible to ensure that bikes are properly serviced and are safe for this event!

Volunteer:
We need a large number of volunteers to ensure a safe and fair race.  Parents are highly encouraged to partake in the event as a volunteer.  You'll be treated with a volunteer t-shirt, coffee, food and festivities, and most importantly the smile of our young competitors!

Race week schedule:
Jun 3rd and 4th – Package Pick-Up @ Tri-It
4-7pm on 3rd and 10-12 on 4th Race Package pickup at Tri-It.
[Please note that ATA members are required to present membership card at race package pickup.]

Jun 4th – MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING & Race-course clinic
1:30 PM Sharp Pre-race meeting will start in Education Building
Heat times and further details will be provided at this meeting.

Race-course clinic will occur after the Pre-race meeting.  A MUST for first-timers. We’ll go through the race course and transition. To register for clinic, email info@trikronos.com  before May 30th.

 June 5th  – Race Day
Please check  www.trikronos.com for final race day heat information which should be available starting mid-May.
Individual heat times will be available at Pre-race meeting on June 4th.  Heat times are subject to change on race day.

Rules of Competition: 
Triathlon Canada (TC) and ATA rules and regulations will be in effect for all races. Age as of
December 31, 2011 will determine category.  See link for latest highlights on TC rules.

Qualifying Period: June 3rd to 17th 2012

Qualifying Age-group: 12-13, born on 1999 or 2000
